I'm excited to announce that I have decided to jump headfirst into my sewing and I hope to really jumpstart HoneyBee Quilt Co this year! I absolutely love it, and I'm so passionate about each and every piece that I make. I've spent the past few weeks doing research and trying to really develop my "brand". That might sound a little odd, but one of main things that I've read about being successful with a blog/Etsy account is branding.

My lovely friend, Katharine Nienow, has recently discovered a knack for typography. She's currently helping me develop a better logo, which will show up on the blog, as well as any other HBQ "stuff". Here's a sneak peak of what she's sketching for me :)
I'm also developing things like packaging, product labels, and online presence. There are a lot of steps to go before I really launch this into a successful business, but I'm confident that my time and efforts will be fruitful!

This is where you come in!!! As my friends, family, customers, readers, etc., you should have a say in what you'll see on the blog and in my shop! I love making things simply for the joy that I get out of it, but I also want my art to be a blessing to others!
So here's the skinny. Please take a few minutes to answer the following questions. They will help me put the best blog topics out there, as well as create the products that you need and/or love!
1. What do you look for most in a blog? Tutorials/patterns? Design inspiration? Link parties? Featured blogs? Home remodels/decor? Lay it on me!
2. What products do you love AND would consider purchasing on Etsy, at a market, or in a store? Art quilts? Bags? Headbands? I truly want to know!
3. What draws your attention to a product the most? Price? Uniqueness? Quality?
Thank you all SO MUCH for supporting me and keeping up with my blog. I can't wait to see where this journey takes me and I couldn't be more appreciative of all those who have helped me along the way.
Have a blessed week!

I look for design inspiration in blogs and shops. Could be color combinations, fabrics, pattern or quilting designs. I've purchased a number of things on line. but not quilts. I do buy plenty of fabric from a number of etsy stores :) I look for unique first, then price. If you can't get my attention with unique for an end product, then chances are I won't look further. Good luck with your shop, I'm sure you'll do great. You just need to get the traffic there to look. I found the best way to get traffic was actually via Facebook, posting about your products and people sharing the word goes a long way.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your response Sue! I've never bought a quilt online either, and was wondering how well they would do. I love browsing fabric though :) Thanks for the encouragement!
DeleteI'm like Sue, I look for design inspiration, tutorials and creativity. Thanks for sharing.

I personally gravitate toward blogs that are fairly similar to me in fabrics and design, but most of all, I like well written posts with nice, big, clear photos. good luck in your venture!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up with Needle and Thread Thursday!
