A Few of my Favorite Things

I'd like to talk about how my lack of vacation turned into a good thing. Maybe as much for myself as for you all. For the past few months, JT and I have been planning to take a trip to Savannah for a few days before my Capstone defense, and his swift water rescue training in Bryson City. Because of his seasonal work schedule, April was a really tight month, and we realized that we wouldn't be able to afford it.

I was heartbroken. I haven't been to Savannah since middle school, and JT has never been. Work has been difficult lately and I really needed to get away.

Instead of heading to the coast, we went to JT's grandparents house in North Georgia for the week. It turned out to be really good for us. We spent some time with family, went to IKEA, and ate some pretty great food :)

JT and I were able to have some really long talks about what our goals are and where we see ourselves going in the next few years. We explored some options for our future, including a converted school bus!

I also spent a day by myself and did a little retail therapy. Since we didn't spend any money on vacation and my paycheck was bigger than expected, JT gave me a little slack ;)

I hit some deals at Joann's and got a large stack of ADORABLE prints. None of them really match or have a purpose yet, but I'm really just trying to build my stash ;)

When we got to Nana's house we discovered that our REI dividend purchases had arrived! Here's my favorite one...New Balance running shoes!!!!

Upon our return, I found some sweet little goodies in my mailbox from my skinny pinnie swap partner! (Check out Amy DeCesare's blog, she hosted this event!)

My partner is from the Falkland Islands! How neat is that? She sent me some playing cards with pictures from the islands and some cute buttons! "Chey" means friend or buddy :)

The pincushion, bird pin, and buttons fit me perfectly. It's like she knows me!!! She even included a stack of Liberty samples, one of which has my name!!!

One last little thing I have to share...my mom and I spent a few hours at some antique shops around Boone on Monday and I definitely found my new spot :) They had a set of 3 green pyrex bowls for $24.50! WHAT?!

Anywho, my sweet momma got these things for me to add to my owl/bird collection. My obsession might be getting out of hand...

And by the way...I'm becoming really obsessed with juice glasses and pitchers...HELP!

Thanks for stopping by! Love you all!
