Under a Hundred: Paint Me Happy

If your landlord will let you paint the walls, then go for it! This is a great way to keep you from going insane. It's pretty affordable (especially if you buy old sheets from Goodwill to use as drop cloths) and can totally transform a space. Just make sure you take your time choosing a color. Lowe's will mix a sample of any color for under $3. Pick out a couple shades and paint a strip of each on the wall so you can get an idea of how it will look before you invest time and money in painting.

We've been talking about painting for a while and just never had the time. The small bedroom was originally our bedroom and the light turquoise color was meant to match our quilt, which is not pictured. You can see where I collected quite a few paint chips :)

We had some cute pieces in our room, but it still felt very plain, and the white paint wasn't exactly in great condition :(

Pre-painting mess. You can see the two paint samples that I tried. The left teal color seemed too dark but the lighter color to the right was barely visible.

BUT we decided to go for the lighter color and hope that it would be more blue when translated onto the whole room. Here's the result!

The color is gorgeous, and really comes to life when the sun comes through that window. It's the perfect touch to brighten up the room and make it a suitable home for....drum roll please...my new sewing studio!!! We decided that my creative space was much more important than the room that we only sleep in. The back bedroom will get its own mini makeover soon to make it more livable. But for now, I have a perfect, sweet little sewing room! Pics coming soon :)
