So friends, I knew that it had been a while since I'd written. Well, when I looked today, I realized that it has been a month. A MONTH. That's a ridiculously long amount of time. I apologize.
In my defense, life has been crazy lately. I know, I know...you've heard that before. But it's simply true. Last week marked the end of my full-time month at work. Then my dear husband whisked me away to Georgia and Asheville for family visits and birthday adventures. Needless to say, it was fabulous and much needed.
Now I'm back to real life, which is full of excitement. Work. School. And QUILTING! Despite an extreme case of senioritis, I have my mind set on finishing strong. When I'm not writing lab reports, and dreading my Capstone, I'm slaving away over quilt orders for Christmas, my favorite of which is a Disney Princess quilt. When I got the order, I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy it. I bought a large fabric panel, put some borders on it, and sewed together some flannel squares in various shades of pink and purple for the back. It was simple, quick, and I honestly felt like I wasn't accomplishing anything great. But then I started quilting it. The borders will be filled with hearts, leaves, and crowns. The panel is graced with four princesses, a castle, a heart, and lots of flowers. It didn't take me long to realize, OH MY THIS IS FUN!!! JT laughed as I exclaimed, "It's just like coloring!"
Thus far I have finished Belle, Cinderella, and part of Sleeping Beauty. Snow White is going to take some time.
I don't have pictures yet, but stay tuned, they will come. And take it from me, this hand quilting business is legit.
