Me Lately

School and work. This is my life. Needless to say, I haven't gotten back to my sewing room much lately. It's sad. And the blog is also feeling a little neglected. I just finished a long day of work, and baking, and am now too tired to take a whack at any of my projects. So I decided to do a little writing. Which makes little sense, considering I don't have much to write about. I mean, I could teach you ways to braid a scarf, discuss the difference between sweater brands, and point you towards the fitting rooms.  But that would be utterly boring. So, in order to spare us all, I'll just fill you in on the little things that fill my time between long hours and long papers. Here we go!

1. Went to GA for a wedding and JT got to hold this sweet one for a couple hours. Doesn't he look great with a baby?! ;) Haha I can wait.

2. I made my first flying geese! Actually, each one was already sewn together. My mom made a pretty star quilt and these were among the scraps that she passed on to me. Some just happened to already be sewn into little geese!

3. My crazy quilt fabric is looking more autumny every day. Thanks to Victoria Findlay Wolfe for her small scrap contribution ;)

4. I discovered just how truly insufficient my sewing machine is. Due to its inaccuracy, and a certain amount of human error, my 7 blade fan didn't quite match up with the background. If anyone asks, I'll be saving all birthday and Christmas money for a new machine.

5. I finally took advantage of a Missouri Quilt Company daily deal! Got a Fresh charm pack for $3 + $5 shipping. Can't wait to add some scraps to these and start on a project.

6. These are some cute little canvas bags that I painted. Inspired by the Boone mountains and a quote from Jean Nolte, "done is good". These make great on the go bags, and project organizers.

7. Learned all about shrinky dinks from JT's little cousin Lilly. I'm addicted now. Here are some earrings, pendants, and labels for my quilting tools.

8. At long last, I barred my teeth and tried my first paper piecing block. The top is a practice run using scraps and markers. The bottom is my real one. I was pleased for it being my first time!

9. Painted the chest that's been gathering spider webs in the basement. It now stores cozy blankets in our living room!!! (pictured in #6)

10. Came home every day from a long shift at work to a clean house and tasty dinner. Kudos to my hubby for the month of October. He's pretty great :)

Ta-ta for now!!!
