Part of getting married is obtaining all of the things that you need to run a household. For the woman in particular, this is a very exciting and daunting task. When I married my husband, we were as close to broke as you can get. We had money for food, gas, and a month's rent. So we relied completely on our wedding registry and the generosity of family/friends to meet all of our needs.
So many people stepped up, cleaning out their basements, attics, etc. Between both sets of parents, grandparents, and a few others, we collected pretty much anything we could ever need...or not need ;)
Our mismatched stock of home goods has served us well for the past several months. However, as I'm striving to finish some housework today, I feel the need to vent about just one item. Our vacuum.
While I'm sure this "Epic" (yes that's really what it's called) served my grandmother well all those years, it's starting to get ANCIENT and can't get the job done very well anymore. As my mother would say "IT SUCKS! Or...doesn't suck."
The cord is fraying in multiple places, won't come out to its full length, and I have to use the carpet setting just to get some crumbs off my (ugly laminate) kitchen floor. BUT, my choices so far have been new vacuum or quilting supplies. Since I spend most of my time quilting INSTEAD of cleaning, I decided to go with the latter.
But hey, maybe if I can sell some things on Etsy, I'll get to go pick one out. Please help me get a new cleaning buddy!
IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS IS NOT A SALES PITCH! IT IS SIMPLY A VENTING SESSION, AND NOW I AM FINISHED.
(But really, you should check out my Etsy stuff)
Oh, Lucy. It's just been one of those days for you hasn't it! Sorry to hear your vacuum troubles. It sure sounds like a good excuse to go sew!
